Day 1 • Cancún
Welcome to a fun-filled vacation of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Explore the Mayan archaeological sites of Chichén Itzá, Coba, and Tulum. Visit the charming colonial cities of Valladolid, Izamal, and Mérida. Relax on one of the top rated beaches in the world. Fly to Cancun City International Airport (CUN). Transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle to your hotel. Rooms are available for check-in after 4:00 p.m. Dinner is on your own. Join Caravan for an 8:00 p.m. welcome briefing.
Day 2 • Valladolid, Izamal, Mérida
This morning, travel west across the Yucatan Peninsula. Stop in Valladolid. Free time to explore the historic main plaza. Lunch is on your own. Next, drive to Izamal, known as “The Yellow City” for its brightly painted yellow buildings. See the 16th century Franciscan convent of Santo Antonio de Padua, with its 75 Roman arches. Then, continue to Mérida, Yucatan’s capital and cultural center. Enjoy a two-night stay at your modern hotel in central and stylish Mérida. Dinner is included.

Day 3 • Celestun, Mérida
Morning drive by the beautiful mansions of Montejo Boulevard “Paseo Montejo”. Then, continue to Celestun. Enjoy a birdwatching cruise into the Rio Celestun Biosphere. Look for herons, pelicans, and pink flamingos. Return to Merida. Next, enjoy a walking tour of Mérida’s historic center. See the Plaza de la Independencia. Admire the majestic Mérida Cathedral and the Government Palace. Free time for shopping. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 4 • Chichén Itzá, Riviera Maya
This morning, travel east across the Yucatan peninsula. Visit Chichén Itzá. See the Castle Pyramid. Visit the Ballcourt and the Group of a Thousand Columns. Next, photostop at Ik-Kil cenote. This breathtaking limestone sinkhole was believed to be a portal to the Maya spirit world. Lunch is on your own. Then, continue to the Riviera Maya and your spectacular beach resort. Enjoy a relaxing 3-night stay. Dinner is included.

Day 5 • Coba, Riviera Maya
Morning visit to the archaeological site of Coba, once the largest of all Maya cities, with an area of 30 square miles. Board a pedaled tricycle and journey deep into the jungle to visit Nohoch Mul, the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan peninsula. See the Ballcourt. Return to your resort. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy your hotel’s swimming pools and beach. Enjoy lunch and dinner.

Day 6 • Riviera Maya
Entire day at leisure to do as you wish. Stroll on the beach, relax by the pools, or indulge in your resort's many activities and amenities. Enjoy lunch and dinner.

Day 7 • Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cancún
Morning drive to the nearby ruins of Tulum. This ancient seaport was built on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Tulum is the only Mayan settlement built on a beach. Visit the Temple of the Frescos. See El Castillo. Return to your resort. Enjoy lunch. Then, continue to Playa del Carmen. Free time to stroll the lively 5th avenue promenade. Shop for colorful Mexican arts and crafts. Next, drive to your hotel in Cancún. Dinner is on your own.

Day 8 • Cancún
Your tour ends this morning at your hotel in Cancún. Breakfast is included only after 6:00 a.m. Transfer by hotel courtesy shuttle to Cancún International Airport (CUN) in Cancún, Mexico. Thanks for vacationing with Caravan. ¡Muchas Gracias!

Days 1, 7 • Cancún

Days 2, 3 • Mérida

Enjoy spacious rooms just steps away from the Paseo de Montejo at the Courtyard by Marriott. This contemporary hotel also features a fitness center and outdoor pool. Rooms include hairdryers and free wi-fi.
Days 4, 5, 6 • Riviera Maya
Barceló Maya Palace
The Barcelo Maya Palace is situated on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Riviera Maya. The 1.4 mile white sand beach is perfect for leisurely romantic strolls. Well maintained paths and trails around the resort are excellent for running and taking hikes. This 5 star luxury beach resort has three pools, a fitness center and a full service spa. There is nightly entertainment. Your air conditioned junior suite with garden view includes an outdoor terrace shower and a bathtub.

Caravan’s Cancun, Mexico hotel, Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Cancún Airport, provides a courtesy shuttle from the Cancún International Airport (CUN). The shuttle operates 24 hours a day. Upon departing customs, with your luggage call the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Cancún Airport at 00-52-998-287-2200 or +52-998-287-2200. Tell the hotel your airline and flight number and the hotel will advise you where to wait for the shuttle pickup. Please allow 15 to 45 minutes for the courtesy shuttle to arrive. The shuttle will have the logo of the Fairfield Inn and Marriott Courtyard on the side of the van. The drive from the Cancún International Airport to the hotel takes about ten minutes. Airport taxis cost approximately $40.00 to $60.00.

To enter Mexico, you will need a U.S. passport valid for 6 additional months after the date of your arrival into Mexico. Non U.S. citizens, please check passport and visa requirements. Note: If you are travelling with children under 18 years old without both parents or legal guardians, you should carry a notarized letter of authorization signed by the missing parent(s) or guardian(s). A notarized birth certificate showing only one parent, a parent’s death certificate, or a court order of child custody may also be permissible. Failure to have proper documentation could result in denial of boarding by the airline, due to international child protection laws.

Clothing Tips
This is a casual tour. Casual wear is suggested for sightseeing and daytime travelling. Dress code for evenings is casual. Suit jackets for men and dresses for women are not required. During the middle of the day, the sun is hot and bright. Caravan recommends shorts or light pants, a light shirt, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Also essential are comfortable, sturdy walking shoes with good treads.
