2025 Daily Tour Itinerary
Day 1 • Bogotá, Colombia
Welcome to the fun and joy of Colombia, where flowering landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality await you. Fly into El Dorado International Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia. Transfer on your own using the official airport taxi service. Enjoy a relaxing three-night stay at your Bogotá hotel. Bogotá is 8,660 feet above sea level. Note: Bogotá’s high elevation may pose a risk to individuals with heart or other health conditions. Please consult with your healthcare provider. Rooms are available for check-in after 3:00 p.m. Dinner is on your own.
Day 2 • Gold Museum, Plaza de la Independencia
After breakfast, join Caravan for an 8:00 a.m. welcome briefing. Then, visit the world famous Gold Museum of Bogotá. Learn about the Pre-Columbian cultures of Colombia through an extensive collection of over 55,000 intricately crafted gold artifacts. Next, visit La Candelaria District and marvel at its well preserved colonial architecture. Lunch is on your own. Visit Plaza de la Independencia, dedicated to the “Great Liberator” of South America, Simón Bolívar. See the Palace of Congress, the Cardinal’s Palace, and the 16th century Chapel of El Sagrario. Enjoy dinner.

Day 3 • Salt Cathedral
This morning, drive north passing by greenhouses where carnations and roses are grown for export worldwide. Arrive in Zipaquirá. Visit the Salt Cathedral, carved within the tunnels of a salt mine. See the 14 Stations of the Cross and the stunning Main Altar. Return to Bogotá. Afternoon at leisure. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 4 • Fly from Bogotá to Medellín
Fly today from Bogotá to Medellín. This flight is included in your Caravan tour price. You are allowed one carry-on and one checked piece of luggage. Known as “the City of Eternal Spring,” Medellín is 4,905 feet above sea level. Lunch is on your own. Arrive at your hotel for a relaxing three-night stay. Enjoy dinner.

Day 5 • Coffee Tasting, Stone of Peñol, Guatapé
Morning journey into the Andean highlands for a coffee tasting. Colombian coffee is celebrated worldwide for its outstanding flavor. See coffee plants. Learn the art of coffee bean cultivation. Next, enjoy a photo stop at La Piedra del Peñol, “The Stone of Peñol,” a towering natural rock formation. Continue to Guatapé. Visit the charming town square. Walk along the cobblestone streets lined with brightly painted colorful restaurants and stores, many adorned with “zocalos,” vibrant murals. Lunch is on your own. Then, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Guatapé. Return to Medellín. Dinner is on your own.

Day 6 • Botero Plaza, Santa Elena
Morning sightseeing drive through the historic center of Medellín. See Botero Plaza, which showcases the works of the renowned Medellín sculptor, Fernando Botero. His iconic sculptures are characterized by their playful exaggerated proportions. Then, continue to the picturesque town of Santa Elena. Visit a family-operated flower hacienda. Discover the “silleteros” tradition and the intricate floral arrangements which celebrate the region’s flower growing heritage. Enjoy lunch. Return to Medellín. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner is on your own.

Day 7 • Fly from Medellín to Cartagena
Fly today from Medellín to Cartagena. This flight is included in your Caravan tour price. You are allowed one carry-on and one checked piece of luggage. You’ll enjoy a relaxing three-night stay in Cartagena on the Caribbean coast. The city was originally christened “Cartagena de Indias” by the Spanish, based on their belief that the discovered territory was part of the West Indies. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 8 • La Candelaria Monastery, Walled City of Cartagena
After breakfast, visit La Candelaria Monastery and see sweeping views of Cartagena and the Caribbean coast. Next, a photo stop at the 17th century Castillo de San Felipe, strategically located at the entrance of Cartagena Bay. Then, enjoy a walking tour of the Walled City of Cartagena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic city was protected from pirates by a six-mile long stone wall fortification. See the Peace Plaza, the Clock Tower, the Royal Custom House, the Church of San Pedro Claver, and Simón Bolivar Park. Free time to shop for jewelry, leather goods, fashion accessories, and fine handcrafts. Lunch and dinner are on your own.

Day 9 • National Aviary, Getsemani
This morning, drive south to Baru Island to visit the Colombia National Aviary. Colombia has an astonishingly rich biodiversity of over 1,900 bird species, the highest number of any country in the world. See macaws, parakeets, curassows, raptors, condors, and a harpy eagle. Wander among toucans and flamingos. Return to Cartagena. Visit the magical neighborhood of Getsemani, bursting with color and brimming with street life. Lunch is on your own. Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy your hotel's outdoor pool or stroll along the beach in front of your hotel. Enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 10 • Cartagena
Your tour ends this morning at your hotel. Breakfast is included only after 7:00 a.m. Caravan provides transfers to the Rafael Nunez International Airport (CTG) in Cartagena, Colombia, arriving at 5:00 a.m, 7:00 a.m, 9:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. If you wish to go at a different time or extend your stay in Colombia, you will need to transfer on your own at your own expense. High Elevations
Colombia is an unforgettable mountainous destination, with some very high elevations. If you have breathing or heart issues, please consult with your healthcare professional to see if you can safely take this tour. The tour begins with 3 nights in Bogotá at an overnight elevation of 8,660 feet. This is followed by three nights in Medellín at an overnight elevation of 4,905 feet.

The hotel is four miles from Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport, in the city’s financial and entertainment district. The Marriott has 24 hour front desk reception, two restaurants, a bar, fitness center, indoor lap pool and full service spa. Free Wifi.

Estelar Square Hotel
The hotel is ideally located in El Poblado, Medellin’s most exclusive area. The Estelar Square Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Santa Fe and Oviedo Malls. The hotel has 24 hour front desk reception, a restaurant, bar, rooftop pool and fitness center. Free Wifi.
Days 7, 8, 9 • Cartagena
Estelar Cartagena de Indias Hotel
The hotel is in the upscale Bocagrande neighborhood. It directly faces the beach, and is just a 20 minute walk to the Walled City of Cartagena. The hotel has 24 hour front desk reception, two restaurants and a lobby and pool bar. There is an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, full-service spa, and beauty salon. Free Wifi.

Transfer on your own from the El Dorado International Airport (BOG) to Bogota Marriott Hotel (Av. El Dorado #69 B-53, Fontibon) in Bogota. Once you have exited customs and collected your baggage at the airport, proceed to the official taxi service known as “Imperial”. The Imperial kiosk is located as you exit baggage claims. Here you can request your taxi. The driving time from the airport to your hotel, Bogota Marriott Hotel, is approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. You can pay using US Dollars, Colombian Pesos, or with a credit card. Taxi fares range from 40,000 - 60,000 Colombian Pesos, or $15 - $20 US Dollars (depending on the exchange rate) plus tip. ATMs and a currency exchange are available at the airport. When you arrive at your hotel, please identify yourself as a Caravan tour member to the front desk personnel.
departure Transfers
Caravan includes fixed departure transfers from your hotel to Cartagena’s Rafael Nunez International Airport (CTG), scheduled to arrive at 5:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. These transfers are only available at these set times on the day the tour ends. If you extend your stay in Colombia or if you wish to go at a different time, you will need to transfer on your own, at your own expense. Please ask the hotel bellman to arrange a taxi. Fares are approximately $25 U.S. Dollars per taxi, plus tip. The driving time from the hotel to the airport is usually 15 - 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Colombia requires a current U.S. passport valid for six months after your date of entry. Non U.S. citizens, please check passport and visa requirements. Note: If you are travelling with children under 18 years old without both parents or legal guardians, you should carry a notarized letter of authorization signed by the missing parent(s) or guardian(s). A notarized birth certificate showing only one parent, a parent’s death certificate, or a court order of child custody may also be permissible. Failure to have proper documentation could result in denial of boarding by the airline, due to international child protection laws.

This is a casual tour. Casual wear is suggested for sightseeing and daytime travelling. Dress code for evenings is casual. Suit jackets for men and dresses for women are never required.
